Hunger, food insecurity, and poor nutrition are pressing national health issues. Immediate action is required to bring about meaningful change.
Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, is working to end hunger by distributing food through more than 200 food banks across the United States. Each year, Feeding America provides food to 37,000,000 Americans. This means one in eight Americans rely on Feeding America for food and groceries. While food insecurity rates vary from state to state, the case is clear: hunger is a reality for too many Americans.
In one summer, Miles for Meals raised $4,127.57, or the equivalent of 37,148.13 pounds of food and grocery products for men, women, and children facing hunger in the USA. Miles for Meals sent 100% of the final sum to Feeding America in December 2010.
